Internship Programme
We believe internships should be structured and reflective of real legal work.
Our Internship Programme is designed to provide students with hands-on exposure, close guidance from our lawyers, and practical takeaways that build confidence and foundational legal skills.
Internship Highlights:
- Our Internship Programme is generally for a duration of one (1) month. However, longer or shorter durations may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
- We offer a guided experience in which interns work closely with our lawyers on, amongst others, legal research, drafting, court preparation and corporate transactional matters.
- Interns are paired with a supervising lawyer to ensure consistent guidance throughout the programme.
Internship – What it entails:
- Real Work Experience – Task assignments that include context, guidance on approach, and mentorship from our team.
- Structured Feedback – Interns receive feedback aimed at developing analytical thinking, drafting precision and professional judgment in a practical context.
- Professional Development – Exposure to the firm’s working culture, team-oriented practices, and the professional standards expected in a legal environment.
While these core elements apply across the firm, interns’ experience may vary depending on their department placement:
Litigation Intern
- Court Exposure – Visits to observe proceedings at the High Court and Appellate Courts.
- Research Development – Structured guidance on legal research methods and navigating key legal resources, with an emphasis on producing practical and litigation-ready research.
- Drafting Skills – Opportunities to assist in drafting cause papers and correspondence, with constructive, tailored feedback to refine clarity, structure and legal reasoning.
Corporate M&A Intern
- Transactional Exposure – Exposure to corporate M&A transactions, with guidance on deal structures, transaction flow, and documentation.
- Due Diligence & Review – Hands-on experience in reviewing corporate documents, identifying legal issues and understanding how findings are addressed.
- Drafting Skills – Opportunities to assist in drafting and reviewing agreements and transaction documents.

Pupillage
At Daniel & Wong, we view pupillage as a formative stage in which future lawyers develop the core skills essential for legal practice.
Over the nine-month programme, pupils are expected to strengthen their research, drafting, advocacy and commercial awareness while gaining substantial
exposure to real work and court practice.
Core Pupillage Experience
- Substantive Legal Work – Direct involvement in active files across various practice areas, including opportunities to assist in drafting legal documents, conducting research, and contributing to case strategy.
- Mentorship & Guidance – Close supervision and mentorship from Pupil Masters (i.e., Partners of the Firm), supported by structured feedback and continuous professional guidance.
- Training & Professional Development – Internal training sessions and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) support.
While the Core Pupilage Experience applies across the firm, pupils’ experience may vary depending on their department placement:
Litigation Pupil
- Court & Advocacy Exposure – Regular exposure to court proceedings at the Subordinate Courts, High Courts and Appellate Courts, including but not limited to assisting in interlocutory applications, trials and appeals, as well as observing advocacy and case management in complex disputes.
- Research & Drafting – Active involvement in legal research and drafting of pleadings, affidavits, written submissions and related court documents, with structured guidance and feedback to develop persuasive legal writing and procedural accuracy.
- Strategy & Case Management – Hands-on participation in the management of contentious matters, including but not limited to issue analysis, chronology preparation, and strategy discussions. This provides insight into how disputes are run from commencement to resolution.
Corporate M&A Pupil
- Active Transactional Involvement – Involvement in active corporate M&A transactions, with exposure to transaction timelines, deal structuring and execution.
- Due Diligence & Review – Responsibility for conducting and coordinating legal due diligence exercises and document review, with an emphasis on understanding legal risks, materiality and commercial impact.
- Drafting & Transaction Support – Hands-on experience in drafting and reviewing transaction documents and supporting transaction completion, with guidance on accuracy and commercial clarity.
Remuneration & Benefits
Pupillage allowance: RM 4,000.00/month
